Common questions
The browser extension isn’t handing downloads to FileFlux
Open Settings → Browser integration and use the button for your browser to install the extension, then restart the browser. If downloads still go to the browser, check that the extension is enabled in the browser’s own extensions page. Firefox needs FileFlux to have been launched at least once so its messaging host is registered.
A download failed and won’t retry
Select the download and choose Retry. If the server has expired the link (common with time-limited download pages), copy a fresh link and add it again. Auto-retry and how many attempts it makes are under Settings → Transfers.
Downloads are slower than expected
Check for a global cap under Settings → Transfers and a per-download limit on the download itself. Some servers limit each connection, in which case more connections per download helps; others limit per client, in which case they don’t. FileFlux adds connections only while they measurably raise speed.
Where did my file go?
Use Show in folder on the download. The destination is decided by Settings → Downloads → Save location, which can route files into per-type folders or follow your own rules.
Can I use FileFlux without any AI features?
Yes. AI is off until you enable it and add your own provider key, it never runs in incognito mode, and every AI feature can be turned off individually under Settings → AI.
Is my history really private?
Yes — see the privacy policy. History and resume data are encrypted at rest (Windows DPAPI on Windows, your desktop keyring on Linux), nothing is sent to the developer, and incognito mode keeps a session in memory only.
Which versions of Windows and Linux are supported?
Windows 11 build 26100 (24H2) or newer, on x64 and ARM64. On Linux, any reasonably current desktop distribution — install the .deb or .rpm, or run the portable AppImage anywhere.
Reporting a bug
The most useful report says what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead — plus your version from Settings → About FileFlux. If FileFlux closed unexpectedly, mention roughly when it happened; crash details are written locally and never sent anywhere on their own.
